FAQ’s and Policies

Upon your arrival, we recommend trying to have your pet go to the bathroom before coming in. This lessens the chance your pet will have an accident while here, which can sometimes result in a second bath.
Once you are inside, your groomer will go over with you what it is you are looking to have done, any medical changes we should know about, and give you a quick evaluation of your dogs condition.
After check-in, you are free to run some errands, take a nap, hide from responsibilities. Whatever you need to do while we pamper your pet.
As soon as your pets groom is complete, we will either call or text you that they are ready, and you can come pick them up. We do not expect you to rush right over, and we will do whatever we can to make your pet comfortable while they wait. Just keep in mind, there is no place like home. Also, we close at 5pm, so we ask that all pets be picked up by 4:30pm.

We ask that you wait for your service to be completed outside the salon whenever possible. Dogs are quite a bit more excited and wiggly when their family is around. This slows the process and can even make accidental injuries happen more often. Dancy dogs and sharp objects are not a great mix.
We also ask that you do not return to pick them up until we contact you, when possible. Your pet knows your car and your scent further away than you would expect. So even though you are not in the building, they still know and get very excited.

Yes! Dogs like routine, so we try to keep each dog with their own groomer when possible. We form bonds with your pets as if they are our own when we see them regularly. Having a relationship with your pet helps us notice differences in your pet you may not, and brings a sense of comfort to all parties involved.
We try to match your pet with the best groomer for their specific needs; not every groomer is a good match for every dog.
(We will never take offense to your requests for a specific individual.) -
Yes, Please! Even for the 'small stuff' we ask that you at least contact us to see if there is a better time of day than another. We also offer online booking for your convenience!
If you walk-in during business hours without an appointment, we will do our best to accommodate you. However, please expect a possible wait or to be rescheduled at another time.

Separation Anxiety. Dogs don't understand the concept of “I'll be right back”. All they know is that you bring them to this place that isn't their home, and you leave them. The shaking subsides within a few minutes of you leaving. We promise. From Chihuahuas to Great Danes, until coming to see us becomes a routine, we see it every day.
The best thing you can do for your pup, is walk in with confidence. If you come in a bundle of nerves, your dog will mirror that. If you're excited and happy, they'll be excited and happy.

As soon as they are fully vaccinated, usually around 10 weeks. The sooner they are exposed to the process, the more comfortable they will become with it. Getting your puppy used to grooming is its own form of training, so the sooner the better!
We hope to see a new puppy at least once a month to help get them used to the process.

Each pet is different based on their coat, medical needs, and environmental factors.
Generally, we recommend at least a bath and brush out every 4 weeks to keep the skin, nails and coat healthy. For those who like their long coated dogs, the longer you want to keep your pets coat, the more frequently we recommend they come see us. Typically we recommend a regular grooming schedule of anywhere between 4 – 8 weeks.
-
No. Dogs noses have 300 million olfactory sensors vs. our 6 million as humans. Anything with a scent would be highly irritating to them. Everything we use is little to unscented for this reason. Besides, truly clean pets don't need cologne.
-
Absolutely NOT. We are a grooming facility, not a veterinarian. We will never administer anything to your pet; we even get permission for treats. We have fresh water available, a bed and toys if they are interested.
If your dog requires sedation for grooming, you must acquire it from your veterinarian. We do ask to be notified when they are on a medication, so that we are prepared for any possible side effects.
-
Yes. Ears are recommended to be plucked only when the amount of hair can impede proper drainage. The dead and dying hair is removed by hand, while some healthy hair remains to do its intended purpose; keep debris out.
Please let us know at drop off if you are treating an ear condition. We do not want to mess with a treatment in process or potentially irritate an existing condition.
-
No. Studies have shown that external gland expression can cause more harm than benefit. As groomers and not veterinarians, we are not able to perform internal expressions as it is considered a medical procedure.
We ARE able to check the glands to let you know if a vet visit is warranted though. So if your pet is prone to this condition, please let us know so we know to be on the lookout.

We have designed our shop to be open, dog friendly and safe. They are allowed to wander the shop while they are not actively being groomed. However, if a pet prefers a private place, does not get along well with others, or shows signs of stress; we do have kennels available.
-
We dry the dogs by hand using a High Velocity Dryer, or a Stand/Fluff Dryer whenever possible. Sometimes, these can be overstimulating for some pets, and they panic. To avoid injury in these cases, we do have a cage drying option that is NOT heated. Room temperature air is blown around them by a fan to help them dry more gradually. Please note, this adds time to the groom as it is a significantly slower process.

Brushing out mats can be very painful. Especially when the matting is extensive and/or very close to the skin. Rather than put the dog though the extremely long and painful process of brushing out those mats, the more humane option is to shave them down and start fresh.
If the matting is able to be brushed out, we will make every attempt to do so. However, 'de-matting' does a lot of damage to the coat, which will more than likely lead to more matting down the road. Please know, we as a general practice, do not enjoy shaving your pets. We are a coat saving salon, so if we recommend a shave down, it is for a good reason.

Dogs with a double coat are the way they are for a reason. It may not seem like it, but all that hair is the reason your dog is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The guard hairs (the good hair) grow at an extremely slower pace than the undercoat (soft shedding stuff). So slow, in fact, that in some cases it never grows back after being cut
If you shave the guard hair, the undercoat will have no support and will grow faster and more wild than before. This makes it much harder to manage and could alter the way your dog looks for years and years to come.
Also, these dogs have extremely sensitive skin. Removing their protection from the elements can lead to a whole list of medical conditions. For Dogs Sake will not be responsible for harming your dog, and shaving these coats is just that: harmful.

Our prices are based on the size of your dog and the type of coat they have. We are happy to give you an estimate over the phone, but until we see your pup in person, it can only be an estimate.
We welcome you to email or text us a photo of your pet so that we can give you the most accurate estimate as possible ahead of your visit. Or we welcome you to browse our base prices on our online booking page.
-
Tips are always welcome, but never expected.
-
Our prices are based on a maintenance groom. Which means your pet is here on a regular basis and in a manageable condition.
If your pet comes in and they don't need a lot to be done, your price may go down to represent that.
If your pet comes in and they are a little worse for wear, and require more work than usual (excessively dirty, matted, fleas, etc) your price may go up to reflect the extra time needed.
